About This Tour
Akagera National Park is Rwanda's largest protected area and the country's only savannah ecosystem. After years of restoration, the park now boasts lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, giraffes and the recently reintroduced black rhinos β completing the Big Five.
Located in eastern Rwanda along the Tanzanian border, Akagera covers 1,122 kmΒ² of rolling hills, acacia woodlands, papyrus swamps and a chain of beautiful lakes. Game drives at dawn and dusk offer the best wildlife viewing, with the possibility of seeing lions on hunts, herds of elephants at the waterhole, and pods of hippos in the shimmering lakes.
