About This Tour
The 1-day gorilla trekking Rwanda tour is the most direct way to experience one of Africa's greatest wildlife encounters. You will set off from Kigali at dawn in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser, arriving at Volcanoes National Park headquarters in time for the 7:00 AM briefing.
After briefing, your RDB-certified guide will lead you into the misty bamboo forests of the Virunga volcanoes to locate one of the 10 habituated gorilla families. Once found, you spend one full hour in the presence of these magnificent animals — watching, photographing and observing their family dynamics just metres away.
This is not a zoo encounter. Mountain gorillas live completely wild in dense rainforest at altitudes of 2,400–4,500 m. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are that day. Rwanda SafariTours handles your official RDB gorilla permit ($1,500), all logistics, transport and guide services so you can focus entirely on the experience.
We return to Kigali by evening (approximately 7–8 PM depending on trek duration). This is a full and tiring day — but one you will remember for the rest of your life.
