About This Tour

This is Rwanda's gorilla trekking experience built around one of its true flagship properties: One&Only Gorilla's Nest, set in the forest at the foot of the Virunga volcanoes, a few minutes from Kinigi park headquarters. Rwanda Safari Tours designs this as a fully private, bespoke itinerary with a personal RDB-certified guide throughout.

Two private gorilla treks are included as standard — not an optional add-on — so you visit two different habituated gorilla families over the course of the stay, a genuinely different encounter each time.

Choose Your Room at One&Only Gorilla's Nest

Real room rates at this property vary enormously, so rather than hide that behind one blurry number, here's the honest breakdown — each price below includes 2 nights in that room, both gorilla permits, your private 4x4 with driver-guide for 3 days, and all park fees:

Forest Treehouse
$15,500 / person

1 king bed, sleeps 2 — an idyllic luxury lodge for couples.

Room rate: $8,260/night

Susa Treehouse
$15,900 / person

1 king bed, sleeps 3 — an idyllic two-bedroom retreat for families.

Room rate: $8,570/night

Virunga Lodge
$19,500 / person

Ultra-spacious suite filled with light. King bed plus sofa bed in the living room.

Room rate: $11,740/night

Ingagi Lodge
$35,500 / person

Expansive living and dining spaces, our most spacious standard suite.

Room rate: $26,090/night

Silverback Lodge
$38,500 / person

Our most exclusive suite — private swimming pool, maximum privacy.

Room rate: $28,750/night

All five rooms include the same gorilla trekking experience — two private treks, different families, the same personal guide throughout. The difference is entirely the room itself.

A luxury Rwanda safari can extend beyond the gorilla leg to Akagera National Park (Magashi Camp) and Lake Kivu (boutique lakeside lodges) for travelers who want the fuller circuit. Private charter flights between destinations are available to eliminate long road transfers.

Every detail is managed for you: RDB permit bookings (secured 6–12 months in advance), private airport meet-and-greet, all ground transport in a private Land Cruiser, personal guide, lodge reservations and bespoke excursion planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rwanda combines world-class lodge accommodation, extraordinary wildlife exclusivity (only 8 visitors per gorilla family daily), exceptional food, safety, and a compact size that allows multiple distinct ecosystems in one trip. Rwanda's gorilla trekking is the world's most exclusive wildlife encounter by any measure.
Five room tiers: Forest Treehouse ($8,260/night, sleeps 2), Susa Treehouse ($8,570/night, sleeps 3, family-friendly), Virunga Lodge ($11,740/night, sleeps 2 with a sofa bed), Ingagi Lodge ($26,090/night, our most spacious standard suite), and Silverback Lodge ($28,750/night, with a private swimming pool). All rates include taxes and fees.
Yes — Rwanda allows private group trekking (your party only, with a personal guide). You need to book your entire group on the same permit allocation for the same gorilla family. For parties of 1–3, you may be combined with other visitors unless you purchase all 8 permits for your group. Contact us to discuss private trek arrangements.
We recommend 6–12 months in advance, especially for peak season (June–September), since One&Only Gorilla's Nest has very limited capacity and gorilla permits sell out quickly during peak season.
From $15,500 per person for the Forest Treehouse tier, up to $38,500 for the private-pool Silverback Lodge. Every tier includes two gorilla trekking permits ($3,000 total, two separate treks with different families), 2 nights at One&Only Gorilla's Nest with all meals, a private 4x4 with driver-guide and fuel for all 3 days, and one spa treatment — the only difference between tiers is the room itself.
